A musical spin on the bullet heaven genre, in the vein of Vampire Survivors or Brotato.

Each attack is closely paired with a piece of music. As you build up your arsenal, you compose an eerie soundtrack at the same time.

New to the genre? “How to Play” in the pause menu will get you up to speed in a few beats.

Go ahead and give it a whirl.

With 75 different musical loops to pick from, the possibilities are almost endless. Every time you play, your choices will result in a soundtrack never before heard by human ears. Or inhuman ears for that matter.

Whirlwolf is a solo made labor of love. Every note you hear and object you see was Frankensteined to life by me, no AI assets were used. Thank you for playing! You have been cursed.

This is just the beginning of the journey, more updates to come. Follow along on substack! Let me know what else you'd like to see/hear.

Note: If you're having trouble with performance, try turning off fog in the options menu.

Absolutely brilliant game! Pretty addicting and creative!

I like the music, but I don't really get the control.

Besides the arrow keys, is [Spacebar] used to shoot? And is the sector that keep rotating around you meant for aiming?

I was still able to "play" in the 1st level by kiting the mob around, smashing the Spacebar and collect some the monster drop. After I got the "Double" power, there seems to be some kind of projectiles that resemble bullets, but I don't know how to control them at all.

I did try looking at Settings to see if there is any key mapping, but found none.

Anw, the above critique is not meant to say this is bad. Just saying that a better intro could potentially make a better entry ramp. Then  the rhythm and power-ups can make this really fun to play.

This was SO useful, thanks so much for the thoughtful response! I had been considering creating onboarding for first-time players and this confirmed how necessary that was, and helped me hone in on what to include.

I just uploaded a brand new build with a "How to Play" overlay when you first start the game (also accessible in the pause menu after it's dismissed). Hopefully this helps clear things up. Definitely let me know if there's anything that's still confusing!

I love the music! It's so satisfying to build out your arsenal and hear how it changes the music, I found myself bopping with the music haha

Great game!
